Last Month's Adventures!

I finally have everything collected for the most anticipated post of the semester.  Following will detail our prom adventure as well as many other events we attended, hosted, and participated!  Enjoy the breakdown of the month of April from our point-of-view!

This year's prom was a Masquerade, so what better way to celebrate than with a one-of-a-kind mask?!  The students did such a good job with their unique creations.

We celebrated one special gal's birthday.  Happy birthday to Mrs. Jernigan on April 22!

We also had the FIRST EVER PHS Special Olympics pep rally.  We had a HUGE turnout of general education students who cheered, danced, and sang to support our kiddos!  We sold special t-shirts for the event as well as buttons.  What an awesome wait to celebrate our differences!

Mar'Quasia gave a heart-wrenching speech about her struggles with her differences.  She described the importance of celebrating our differences!  Thanks to Mary, SGA President for all of the prep work she put into the pep rally!

The back of the shirts said, "Today you are you, that is truer than true.  No one alive is YOUER than YOU!" --Dr. Suess.

The next day we headed to the YMCA for the Autauga County Special Olympics.  Our three classes had a BLAST!

 Basketball!!!

 Check out Trip's moves!
 GREAT looking group!

Byron won!  Way to go everyone!! We all earned metals :-)
The next day, we made our way to prom.  Of course we had a few hiccups in planning, but we smoothed everything over by creating a limo-like atmosphere in our brand, new school bus we took.

All of the students looked so handsome and beautiful!

Thank you to Have a Heart 4 Kids for bringing a cool motorcycle and stocked goodie bags to help us make it through the prom!

We had a great dinner at Fox's Pizza Den in Prattville.  Thank you to the guys at Fox's for great food and a fabulous evening.

Our night wouldn't have been complete without a (sparkling grape juice) toast or two (or three..or four...)

 Delicious GiGi's cupcakes for dessert!

We arrived safely after dinner at the prom at the Renaissance in Montgomery.  We also had a special guest; Mr. McKee joined us!
D'Shawn stole the show with his dance moves!

Jana and Byron hit up the buffet!

It is safe to say that everyone had a wonderful time, looked beautiful, and danced the night away.  Thank you to everyone who made this night a possibility for the students (and teachers!)  We all had such a great night, and it wouldn't have been possible without all of the support we received from generous individuals and companies who wanted to get us there!
